3 Jobs With Minimal Training To Get At An Assisted Living Facility

If you like working with the elderly then you may want to look into a job at an assisted living center. Not only will you get to create relationships with people in their last years of life, but you can also be some sort of caretaker as well. Depending on the type of schooling you want to go to and the type of career path you want to take, there are a few options for you to choose from. 

1. Certified Nursing Assistant

A certified nursing assistant or a CNA is a job that you can get in just a few months. As a CNA you will be responsible for assisting the nurses at the nursing home facility with smaller tasks such as helping patients use the restroom, eat, bathe, and just take care of their basic needs. While this position may not be the most glamorous thing to do at a nursing home, it is definitely something that is beyond helpful. 

2. Medication Management Technician

Medication management is a job in which you will help patients at the nursing home with their medications. During a medication management training program, you will learn how much medication a patient should take and how often. This type of program typically takes about four months of schooling and 140 hours of training in a facility. While you won't be a pharmacist by any means, you will be responsible for going around and handing out specific types of medications to different patients at the nursing home.

3. Food Server

While you can become a food server in a restaurant with no training, you will typically need to take some food handlers training classes in order to work at a nursing home. When you are a food server at a nursing home, you may be responsible for not only delivering foods to different rooms but you will also be responsible for ensuring that every patient gets food that meets their dietary needs. For instance, if you have a patient that is on a liquid diet because of surgery, then you will have to prepare and give them food that meets those standards.
